THE GAITHERSBURG FINE ARTS ASSOCIATION was founded in 1976 as a small group of artists residing in Gaithersburg and has grown over the years to include members throughout Montgomery County. GFAA provides educational programs, promotional opportunities, multiple exhibits during the year, and outreach to local audiences.
An Introduction to Digital Art
We’ll explore the world of digital art, including painting, drawing and using an iPad to manipulate artwork and photographs. I’ll talk about my experience teaching Digital Painting, as well as demonstrate the basics of how to get started. We’ll talk about other digital artists as well, and look at how using a digital format can help in your traditional art practice.
Penny grew up in NW Washington DC, where she currently lives. She studied at University of Massachusetts Boston, earning her Bachelor’s of English Literature. After many different career trajectories, she finally found her way back to her “forever” passion…creating art.
The pandemic was a catalyst for this change, and enabled her to spend many hours honing her craft and studying. She has been painting in oils since the age of 15, and it is her preferred medium. 10 years ago, she discovered digital art, and has since incorporated that into her field of study.
Penny has had gallery shows as well as solo shows, and continues to explore both digital and traditional art. She is currently an instructor at the Yellow Barn in Glen Echo, Maryland.
